Samsung Announces New Gear VR with a Hand Controller

New Samsung Gear VR

Samsung has announced a new version of its virtual reality headset Gear VR, which now comes with a hand controller in Mobile World Congress 2017 – one of the biggest conferences on mobile technology currently being held in Barcelona, Spain from 27th February to 2nd March. The new model of the headset is identical to the old one, except that it comes with a hand controller. The previous version of Gear VR had the controller on the side of the headset, which made it uncomfortable to use it over long periods of time.

Google’s Daydream VR came with a hand controller, and now Samsung’s new Gear VR has a similar functionality. The controller on the new Gear VR will need an AAA battery, which will last for 40 days with 2 hours of daily use. The Gear VR controller will have a clickable touchpad, a trigger, and home, back, and volume keys. The price of new Gear VR has not been announced yet. It can be used with Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 edge, Note5, S6 edge+, S6, S6 edge smartphones.
